Friday 28th July – Day 5
And suddenly it was the last day and a tired but passionate Impact team gathered in the marquee for the last discipleship session. It has been just fabulous that the local children have wanted to join us for these times and we thank God for their enthusiasm.
After a time of worship we split into groups to share our thoughts on what we had learned during the week and how we could continue to reflect God’s love for this community in the future.
And then it was on to the much-anticipated end of week water fight…
And finally it was all over – all the weeks of hard work and prayer and we said thank-you to the people of Ravernet for being our hosts for this week of Impact. We would ask our church family to pray that God will bless the word which was left with the young people and that in His time the seeds which were planted will bear much fruit.
Thursday 27th July – Day 4
Day 4 and after a few tiring days, the team gathered for the morning’s discipleship session. Thankfully the ever-active Tony Salami was on hand to take the warm-up session and following an energetic ten minutes, everyone was wide awake and ready to worship!
Throughout the week, the team have been looking at the theme of light and this morning we were all blessed by the ministry of Jacqui Pickering as she gave an engaging and practical talk full of advice on ways to ‘let your light shine’. Again we are so thankful that many of the local children wanted to join us for this session.
The afternoon’s planned sports day had to be rescheduled due to heavy rain, but between the showers some children were able to play games around the marquee while others played board games inside.
By family barbecue time, the sun had re-appeared so the multi-talented adult helpers were given the task of burning the meat! It has been suggested that Gordon Dickson may have been calling 999 on this occasion!
The evening rounded off with Mike McCormick sharing a short gospel message with all who came along. Once again, we thank the Lord for blessing us with children full of enthusiasm and for His protection over us during this very busy week. As we enter our last day, we ask you to keep supporting all our young people in prayer. Thank you!
Wednesday 26th July – Day 3
After a grey morning and the promise of a rainy day, the sun shone as we started day three with a team worship session in the marquee. We were blessed by Dee Shields from Ballynahinch Baptist who spoke to the Impact team. It’s great to see some of the local children coming along to join in the worship sessions in the marquee.
The afternoon session was not for the faint hearted as the girls (and a few brave boys) joined in an energetic dance session led by the Vibe Academy.
Those not feeling quite so energetic (or feeling their age) headed off to the field in the sunshine for some games.
After dinner and despite the thunder and lightning, Champion BMX rider Colin Ross, amazed us with some incredible stunts. Colin also told the children the story of how he accepted the Lord Jesus as his Saviour.
Another actioned-packed and fun-filled day at Impact 2017. Tomorrow evening we are having our family barbecue, hoping to serve food at six o’clock. If you are available, we would love to see you!
Tuesday 25th July – Day 2
Day two of Legacurry Impact and the same glorious sunshine which had blessed us yesterday was back again – must be a record for Northern Ireland! We were thrilled that some of the children from the village came along to join us for our morning prayer and worship time. Andrew Liddle spoke to the team for the morning ‘trigger-talk’.
For our afternoon session, a team from Youth for Christ came along to host a cage football session in the school yard. We are delighted that even more children, including some older ones, came along to get involved.
For those who didn’t fancy the football, we organised some other activities in the field and took the chance to cool down with some ice lollies!
This evening we had a great family event with the Drum Workshop – a lot of fun and great to see new friendships being made.
As a team we appreciate the prayers of our church family and we ask that you please continue to remember us before God as another day draws to a close.
Monday 24th July – Day 1
And so, after weeks of planning and prayer, we were blessed with fabulous weather as Legacurry Impact at Ravernet kicked-off. The grounds of the Old School Yard have been transformed by the marquee and the team gathered there for the first worship and discipleship session. Jonny Erskine and Jo Taggart led the worship before Rick Hassard came to share some thoughts with the team.
And then it was down to ‘the field’ for the first of the children’s activities – the inflatable assault course! We are so thankful that lots of kids came along and we hope they all enjoyed the afternoon’s fun as we started to make friends.
Thank you so much to those members of our church family who brought along dinner for the team.
To finish our first day, we are running a movie night and we’re delighted that most of the team have decided to stay ‘right to the end’. We thank the Lord for hearing and answering our prayers and we trust Him for whatever lies ahead in the next four days!
We would love you to continue to remember Impact in your prayers – thank you.
