A Thought for December25253613841_745f509e4f_m

From the Rev. Bobby Liddle.

Dear Friends,

Reclaiming Hope is the theme of the Presbyterian Churches World Development Appeal this year, seeking to raise £500,000 for sustainable and eco-friendly projects that will help struggling and impoverished communities in San Salvador and Brazil.

Reclaiming Hope resonates with us at Legacurry having recently sent a team to Burkina Faso.  Water and clothes, eye and teeth care and brighter, better equipped classrooms all help to reclaim hope for individuals and families in one of the poorest countries in the world.

Reclaiming Hope could be the whole theme of Christmas.

In a world full of poverty and pain, warfare and waste, discrimination and destruction, sickness and suffering hope is often in short supply. But into the darkness of this world came Jesus, the light of the world.

His resurrection power is transforming. The entrance of light may not change circumstances but being able to see clearly can bring hope when hope has gone. We believe that Jesus can change lives, transform circumstances, bring hope where there is none.

Who might you think of this Christmas time who needs to hear a word of hope?

Why not pray this prayer for them –

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people. Eph.1:18

Or again –

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rom.15:13

And more!  Praying is great, but why not be an answer to this prayer as you give, reach out, visit, invite this Christmas season and so Reclaim Hope.

                                                     Yours in His name
                                                       Bobby Liddle
